The project management supplied adopts one of two well-known methodologies; Stuctured Systems Analysis and Design (SSADM) and PRINCE2. Both are recognised and used worldwide within the software industry and have their own individual strengths and weaknesses:

Structured Systems Analysis and Design (SSADM) adopts the sequential software development (waterfall) model. This is ideally suited to small projects requiring rapid development together with a structured step-by-step approach. This does however require a very disciplined approach to a project which must be adhered to by both the developer and the customer.

PRINCE2 however provides both the developer and the customer with a structured approach to complex project management. It provides a method for managing projects within a clearly defined framework by describing procedures to co-ordinate people and activities in the project, how to plan and supervise the project, and what to do if the project plan has to be adjusted. In the method each process is specified with its key inputs and outputs and with specific goals and activities to be carried out, which gives an automatic control of any deviations from the plan. Divided into manageable stages, the method enables an efficient control of resources. On the basis of close monitoring the project can be carried out in a controlled and organized way. Being a structured method widely recognised and understood, PRINCE2 provides a common language for all participants in the project. The various management roles and responsibilities involved in a project are fully described and are adaptable to suit the complexity of the project and skills of the organisation.
